If a machine is so old it requires Eset Version 5, it should ideally be segmented from the rest of the network to prevent lateral movement of threats.

Eset has a clear EOL policy. If a version has reached "End of Life," it will no longer receive signature updates, rendering it useless. Always aim for a version in "Limited Support."

Eset occasionally pushes "Micro PCUs" to older versions. These updates patch critical vulnerabilities within the Eset software itself without upgrading the entire version number.
